NEC 2002 Specifications for Weatherproof Outlet Covers/Enclosures:
General Requirements: receptacles in wet locations must have an enclosure that is weatherproof when you insert the attached plug and be installed with a hinged outlet cover/enclosure clearly marked "Suitable for Wet Locations While in Use" and "UL Listed". There must be gasket between the enclosure and the mounting surface, and between the hinged cover and mounting plate/base to assure proper seal, TayMac, Specification Grade, or approved equal.

Cover Depths: Shallow 0.8", Small 1.3", Standard 2.5", Deep 3.5", Jumbo 5.4", Two-Gang 3.5

Cord Size: One-gang covers accommodate up to 12-3 cords. Jumbo covers accommodate up to 3-10 cord. Two-gang covers accommodate up to 8-3 cord.

Dimensions: One-gang 4 7/8" L x 3" W, two-gang 6" L x 4 7/8" W.
