New Line of Metal Weatherproof Covers
TayMac's latest innovative product line is metal weatherproof covers. They are produced with maximum corrosion resistant heavy-duty die cast [ZAMAC 3] metal, and use TayMac's proprietary Universal Fit™ System, which enables the user to have the same product for many different applications.
NEC Standards
The majority of outdoor receptacles have covers that are weatherproof only when the plug is NOT attached. This is acceptable for uses intended to be temporary such as power tools and landscaping tools (power hedgers and electric lawn mowers). However, if the product is to be used while unattended or for extended periods of time there must be a cover suitable for wet locations while the plug is inserted. Examples of such uses would be holiday lights, sprinkler systems and spas. NEC article 406.8(B)(1) requires that receptacles installed outdoors in wet locations must have an enclosure that is weatherproof when you insert the attached plug.
